THQ extends UFC rights until 2018

The Publisher announced today that it has extended the "exclusive agreement, worldwide" with Zuffa, LLC to create games based on the last combat franchise for the next eight years. The agreement grants THQ the option to create games for all consoles, PCS, handhelds, mobile and social media. We can't wait to see someone's gift to us a "Punch in the junk" on Facebook.

Price of the deal wasn't shared publicly.Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter guesstimates: "[THQ] pays a percentage of sales against a minimum warranty. my guess is that is a license by 15%, and that the guarantee is approximately 10 million per year."

The license UFC was good for THQ, despite the decline in sales for the second iteration of the franchise. current strategy of THQ to combat fatigue annual potential is giving the series one "long development cycle," which means that the next installment should arrive sometime in the second half of 2011 at the earliest.
